About Coach Mike
_
Hi,
I'm Mike, founder of T&R Endurance Sports and TEAM LIFE!. I'm a Brooklyn
native. I was born, raised, and continue to reside in Brooklyn. I
became interested in endurance sports shortly after high school the same
way many other people did, to lose weight! I refer to that era as the
"Doritos years." (aka: SuperSize years, the french fries with cheese years, the 2 for 1 sundaes on Wednesdays years..etc) I took up swimming, cycling, and running and in no time
flat, I was changed both physically and mentally through sport. The
result of my training and racing is the athlete you see today. I fell in
love with endurance sports. I have trained for and competed in a
variety of endurance events: triathlons (sprint, Olympic, Half Ironman,
Ironman), open water swims, running races (from 5k's to marathons), and
cycling races. During my years as an age group athlete, I made the time
and commitment to become a triathlon and running coach. I currently run
and oversee multiple training programs at T&R Endurance Sports from
youth running programs, adult marathon training,
triathlon programs and much much more!
Needless to say I have trained for a lot of races and events, and I have trained for them right here in Brooklyn. My motto is "I'm a 5k away." My home is a 5k away from Prospect Park, Coney Island and the Shore Road Promenade. I take pride in knowing my community, making it a healthier place to live in one athlete at a time, and training in it for all my events. That is why I continue to coach others, develop training programs, and host races.. to pass the baton!!
